I have noticed the same thing. I had forgot about the Prefix view until recently (one of those things you see every day but just don't really pay attention to). My coworker was using it on a 6.3 sever (and admin tool) and I thought I would try it out on our 7.0.01 p1 server (admin 7.0.01 no patch). I just figured I was missing something when I saw one AL under HPD > HPD > Active Links on an ITSM 6 server and went back to the Object view. I'll updated to patch 001 for my admin too and try again.
The 7 server does not have a Search DB setup and the 6.3 one does. Would that make a difference? If I created ABC:MNO:alXYZ, it would look something like: Servers - rem - ABC - MNO - Filters - Active Links - Forms - remdev ... except there is nothing in the Filters/Active Links/Forms subsections. I can locate the objects if I look in the object view, but they don't show up in prefix, which renders useless a could-be-really-useful feature. I hope this makes sense. If I have Active Link ABC:MNO:alXYZ, I should see an Active Link called alXYZ in a folder called MNO inside another folder called ABC. Instead, I see the folders, icons for active links, forms, and filters, but I don't see any objects to select in the (Select an object type) pane. Is this an "undocumented feature" or am I not using it right? Thanks!
