Windows 2003, did an upgrade from oracle 9i2 to 10g Same server upgrade 10g client on server, but 9 client was resident also database on same server Did it 5 times on dev server ... practice makes perfect ... well no so!
We had all sorts of interesting experiences this weekend. The crox of the problem was that the remedy server service would not start. It was even doing anything within remedy. No log errors. Finally on Sunday we proceeded to do restores. Restored oracle back to 9i2. Then the server guy did the c drive restore so we could get remedy back to 5.1.2. Well he wasn't thinking and used the o/s backup from before the upgrade process started and ALSO the incremental from after the upgrade process was finished. Therefore ... I ended up still with version 7.0.1P1, like before he started the restore. aarrgghh .... BUT, remarkably the remedy server service would now start !!! Of course it couldn't connect to oracle because we were back at 9i2, but no 'service' terminated error. So now I'm wondering if it really was something in the oracle upgrade that hosed the service. After googling the 193: 0xc1 error you see all sorts of entries for all sorts of applications and my interpretation was that it's pointing to a windows issue. I put a support ticket in on Saturday, yes we do only have Fastrack which does not include weekends support, but gee whiz ... production server down. You'd think someone would take pity, especially because I offered to pay extra for the weekend support. But alas, no one called Sat or Sun. Today I get an email that had nothing to do with the errors I was getting. It's after 3p cdt here and still no proper call on my Critical production down ticket. I am not pleased with support. After our company has paid support for 5 years with minimal ticket entry, you think they could spare a little time on ONE weekend request. I have talked to a support manager there and she is investigating. But I really need that support call !!!! Sorry for the rant, but after working on this from 7am on Sat until 11pm Sun it was very frustrating. I can remember in the 'old' days calling Cecil Lawson at his home put numbers are no where to be found anymore. There isn't even an emergency number to call posted anywhere. You are just out of luck ! Susan On 4/16/07, patrick zandi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
