Tom,

If its rejected the clock stops and the form is sent back to the
submitter. When it is resubmitted it returns to the manager and the
clock starts counting down - From where it left off.

If the approver has multiple time segments then you need to track how
much time has elapsed in the previous segments. That way you can
subtract that from the total "5 hours" so that the total time the
approver has never exceeds the 5 business hours, but could have gaps
where the "end user" is responsible for the time.

The first calculation would be as LJ suggested. ( Business Time Add
"now" + 5 hours.)

However if the approver assigns the ticket to the requester after 23
minutes then the approver would still have 4 hrs 37 minutes (business
time) to finish there processing after the ticket is returned to the
approver.

( repeat as needed )

However you will also likely find that the approver will want (or
maybe need) some kind of reminder at 1, 2 or maybe 3 hours before they
run out of time too. So there could be other calculations that you
want to do during the lifecycle for notification reasons too.

I would say that you would want to use the Business Time Add function...take
'now', or your starting time and add 5 hours. This will give you the
timestamp of when he has to have it done by. Then you can run an escalation
or something checking if timestamp is > that value and take action

Subject: Need Help Counting down with Business Time

**
Hi Listers,

Having never used this process before I am trying to get a handle on
which process I should be using for this workflow. We have a manager that
must approve or reject information being turned over for server site
preparation. He is being give a 5 hour clock in which each time a form is
submitted he has 5 hours to approve or reject it. If its rejected the clock
stops and the form is sent back to the submitter. When it is resubmitted it
returns to the manager and the clock starts counting down - From where it
left off. Think Jack Bauer but with only 5 hours.
I'm just not sure how best to approach this, any ideas?

Best Regards,
