The problem is that the database still contains references to the old
server. The only way I know to get rid of the pointers to the old server, is
through an export/import process.

I have seen this before. We ended up using the import/export tool in remedy
to move the data. This can be time consuming. I have not seen this happen
often and have not figured out what data is retaining the old server info,
but this method fix it for us. It removed what ever server references were
in the tables.

We copied the database, then installed ARS onto the db.
