Ok you can use this method, although it is a bit nutty. If you have a hidden 
selection field on your form which is displayed in the table, call it whatever 
you want, say Black with 2 values Yes and No.
Now set every odd one to No and every even one to Yes.
In the table set the Results Color, to say gray if Black is Yes and white if 
No. this way you can have alternate rows that are gray and white. Like I said 
it is off the cuff, but maybe will give you an idea to improve it. You could 
set a filter on the form that on Submit sets the field to No if the entry id is 
odd and to Yes if the entery id is even.

sorry, I should have been more clear.
I'm not attempting to do this in html/css.
I'm trying to do this on a table field in the aruser client.

I think this could maybe be done using a table walk, but I'm unsure  
how to set the background color on a single row.
