BMC buys software company

BMC Software announced today it has acquired RealOps, a company that
makes software to streamline technology functions for businesses.

The Herndon, Va.-based RealOps product line complements and adds to
Houston-based BMC's Remedy product, which automates information
technology functions, said Jim Grant, senior vice president and general
manager of BMC's enterprise service management division.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the announcement from BMC.

The combination also provides a new level of automation that allows
those who run information technology operations to set priorities on IT
complaints, which can mean improved service and reduced costs, he said
