You guys get me into trouble! :-)

Well, I am a developer so I probably should not even be talking about
futures let alone project time lines. So I would leave my comments for a
"this is where we're going in future" kind of interpretation, rather
than giving you any definitive time lines or feature deliverable
commitments (by the way I do not play a role in such decision making, so
not qualified/authorized).

Personally I think it is quite feasible to deliver the "disengaging
native library" feature in a very incremental way in short cycles rather
than as part of a long haul project. But it remains to be seen how this
all plays out.

All the necessary ingredients are already there in the Java API today
(as noted in previous email chain, you can disengage JNI in 7.1 bits
itself but we do not advocate doing so yet since it is not quite
functionally complete or tested enough).

Just wondering -- when you say "the next version" would be pure Java --
do you mean something like 7.1.1 (which is generally relatively close to
a 7.1 release) -- or do you mean 7.2/8 -- which could be 12 months - 24
months?
