We have opted to move away from a Microsoft Fail Over Cluster
environment in favor of VmWare and Load balanced setup. With the
reliability of the hardware we hated using Power & Cooling simply for a
box that is sitting there providing nothing in return other than "if it
fails it will roll over"...

The issues with Microsoft Clustering, is that installation must occur on
"each node" of the cluster, because of the lack of ability to replicate
registry keys between all systems. We hit the maximum limit of
replicated keys (Windows 2003) - possibly server 2008 might correct this
but you just never know. With VMWare we simply "Build and Clone" makes
Administration and Windows Administration much nicer and faster...

However the process to install on MS-Cluster is this:

Always ensure that you install everything (Ar System, Applications,
Tools, Utilities, etc) to the 'shared' drive (SAN or xxx)

Make Node-1 active and pause all other nodes.

Install, install, install, install, install on Node-1

Ensure Node-1 works as expected

Backup everything (Systems, Database, etc)

Make Node-2 active and pause all other nodes.

Install (select upgrade options if possible) on Node-2

Ensure Node-2 works as expected.

Backup everything (Systems, Database, etc)

Make Node-1 active and leave Node-2 as available.

Now you simply need to configure MS Cluster Services for the
processes...

Add a Generic Service for EACH Remedy Service, and ensure that you build
your dependencies correctly

Portmapper relies upon Cluster NAME and Cluster IP and Cluster Drive
(SAN)

ARServer relies upon Portmapper

Email relies upon ARServer

Flashboards relies upon ARServer

Subject: ARS in Cluster

**

Hi all,

What r the installation procedure for ARS server, ARS components and
ITSM Application in Windows Cluster environment. Here i have 2 windows
2003 Server(Node1 and Node2 with seperate Physical IP) can access SAN
storage and common SQL Server databse in Cluster Environment.

During the installation time of ARS 7.0, MidTier,E Mail Engine,
Assignment Engine from Server A (Active Server) i gave installation Path
to Shared Folder in SAN Stoarge.

these are the installation Path in SAN storage.

ARS Path: \\$Network Path$\$Shared Folder$
<file:///\\$Network%20Path$\$Shared%20Folder$> \AR System\$server
A(Active Server) Name $

Mid Tier Path:\\$Network Path$\$Shared Folder$
<file:///\\e\$Shared%20Folder$> \AR System\Mid-Tier

Email Engine Path: \\$Network Path$\$Shared Folder$
<file:///\\e\$Shared%20Folder$> \AR System\AREmail

Admin Tool and Client tool installed in C:\Progam Files\AR System\ on
both server (Active and Passive).

what r the steps we need to install CMDB and and SD in this scenario and
what r the changes we need in ar.cfg file.

Please give some good suggestion.

Thanks and Regards
