I believe in the CMDB 2.x best practices class they touch upon this item and recommend using the ComputerSystem class for tracking any networking HW with what Jarl has indicated below. We are in the process of using the mechanism recommended without creating our own classes, since this is an added overhead maintaining the system. However, there are couple of other areas where we have to use custom classes. I am not there yet in the implementation.
