Michiel, I have not done that specifically, but after a real quick read...
fckeditor: appears to support a wider range of browsers than the Mid-Tier... so that is a good start distributed under GPL, LGPL and MPL ... also a good start Has Java language support... looks like a real good start. The example looks to be setup for a Servelet engine already... (should make things easier) I would be surprised it fckeditor could not be used in a DVF. TinyMCE appears to support a wide range of browsers... so that is a good start distributed under LGPL ... also a good start has a JSP GZip compresser ... nice to see The docs look to be less polished, but also more "java script ish" than server side too... hum... So this is more of a load on the local browser and looks like it might not even require changes to the base Mid-Tier install. ( That has is pluses and it's minuses in my book.) But again... it looks like it could work to me. I have done some work(play) with DVF's so far. If you want to start a project on http://arswiki.org/projects I would think you could get some help with issues that you bump into.
