We are currently drawing up an implementation plan for ARS 7.0 . One of
the issues we face is whether or not we leave ARS on the current platform
that we have (HPUX) or move over to windows. Our current environment is
ARS 6.3 w/ITSM 6.0 on HPUX with an Oracle backend on HPUX. The
alternative to this would be ARS7.0 on windows to an Oracle backend on
HPUX.

I'd like to hear some responses from people who have a feel for both types
of environments and their views on the success rates/utilization of the
two. I've only known ARS on HPUX so I lean more towards the unix side,
but there is a big push to move it over to windows. A couple advantages
that I see with unix are the ability to rename/move/clone an environment
from one server to the next and the ease of having installing/configuring
multiple installations of ARS on one server.

One of the disadvantages is that it seems like there is not a lot of
experience/support of the HPUX platform and ARS. BMC and other support
companies do most of their benchmarking/support on the Windows platform.

Any information or insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
