How is  ($TIMESTAMP$ - $DATE$)  different to $TIME$?
Either way, should you not get the seconds since midnight local time?

OK, I tried reading the W.O. PDF and see that its anything but simple.
If I understand the original question, the expression is not in the context
of any date, time or date/time field. Is that right?
