I've found that if the LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes any directory that houses a different version of the remedy libraries (this includes the 7.1 libraries, as rik was built against 7.0.1p4 libs), the rik installer will core dump. Clear everything out of the LD_LIBRARY_PATH except the Oracle client library directory, then try the installation. The remedy installation scripts should really sanitize the environment to some degree if there is this level of incompatibility in rik and other utilities with newer versions of the Remedy api.
