Well...other dynamic groups such as 'Assignee Group' and 'Public' are
available in Deployable Apps without the need to give them roles. So I must
assume that you don't need to give ones you create yourself roles either...I
had never even really thought about that before...:)

Subject: Roles and Dynamic Groups

**

Okay, this is my last question today, I promise. This is kind of a wrap-up
of some of the questions I've posted lately.

How do you create the role for a dynamic group when using deployable
applications?

I tried by creating the role like normal. I kept the same name for the role
and the group, they are both Purchaser. To the roll, I gave the negative
group id, 60003 was the group id, so I gave the role -60003.

The problem I had was that whenever I went into an object to add
permissions, both the role and the group showed up. Basically, Purchaser
showed up twice. None of my other roles do this, only the roles for dynamic
groups.

So, I deleted the roles thinking maybe you don't need roles for dynamic
groups, even though what little I can get out of the documentation says you
do, even though it always talks about regular and computed groups when
creating roles. Now, any time I add a dynamic group permission to an object,
everyone in the world gets access to the object, not just the person in the
Purchaser field. So, basically, once I deleted the role for Purchaser, and
put just the group for Purchaser on the field, then remedy started giving
everyone access.

I can kind of see why it would do this, but my main question is why does
Purchaser show up twice in my group list on my permissions tab for an object
if I have a role created for it?

I'm sure this is an elementary question, but I've never needed to use both a
dynamic group and a deployable application.
