Thanks to everyone who had suggestions and comments.  Will try some more things 
tonight.

We realized that our desktop clients connect w/ rpcbind to the Remedy server 
behind
the load balancer OK,  but the web client MidTier doesn't, both using the same 
public DNS/IP.

So, something in MidTier/ServletExec doesn't like it.  I'm told
the UDP packet goes in through the virtual server, but
the response is coming back straight from the app server.

Our current strategy is to just configure ServletExec to use the
"private" DNS but then DNS shows up midstream in the URLs
as the Remedy server being used.  Still waiting to see if there
will be objections enough to stop the upgrade.  I'll bet the team
here figures this out and I'll email the resolution.
