Hi Guillaume,

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to have to get hold of support.
I had tried to do the change just after the initial install so there had
not been any changes to the ARAdmin properties on SQL.

Kind Regards,

Basil Webster

Subject: Re: ARAdmin pwd change via User Tool - SQL 2005

Hi Basil,

I changed the aradmin password a couple of weeks ago on a SQL Server
2005, and did not encounter any problem at all. The AR Server version
and User tool version are 7.1 patch 3. I did the change through the AR
Admin console in the user tool, and encountered no problems...

So I suggest you do the following:

- Stop the remedy server service
- In the ar.cfg file, remove the line that has parameter Db-password
- Login with an administrator account in SQL Server and set the aradmin
account password to the default, which is AR#Admin#
- restart the remedy server service
- retry changing the password

If it fails, you should contact bmc support to see what is going on.
This feature does work, maybe somebody changed the account properties of
the aradmin user in SQL server which would be causing problems

Guillaume

Subject: ARAdmin pwd change via User Tool - SQL 2005

Hi All,

We have just installed ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change, CMDB, Asset), AR
Server V7.1, all with latest patches. OS is MS Win Server 2003 R2 with
SQL2005 Ent.

It is part of our install process, after the initial install, to change
the default password for ARAdmin but we get a SQL error that either the
account does not exist or does not have permissions, when going through
the System Info console on the user tool. We have confirmed that it is
the dbo on the ARSystem db. A test on SQL2000 does not give the same
problem.

SQL 2005 is new to us and suspect the problem lies there. Has anyone
else received the same error and how was it resolved?

Naturally there is more than one way to skin the cat, and we have done
it, but we would like to be able to use the standard features.

Kind Regards,

Basil Webster
