I'll try that but just to be clear... I am getting the file. It just does not
have any contents. So it is finding the path just fine and starting the *.def
file but not writing any contents to it.

Brad,
Just a few things you can try....ensure that the user you are using is an
admin (yea...I know...simple...but ya never know)...and try changing your
path to c:/ instead of what it is currently...this is what I used to try
this out for you

aradmin.exe -x <server> -portnum <port> -u <user> -p <password> -o
"C:/export.log" -e "C:/20080829.def" -F

I got the same log as you, but my def file had content. I'm using 7.1 P3
Admin tool...so I would play around with the location of the files to see if
that's possibly where the issue is.

Subject: aradmin command-line export is producing 0 length files

All,

Environment:
ARS: 7.1.00 Build 200708221849
OS: SunOS 5.10
DB: Sybase 15.0.1

I am using the following syntax to get a daily *.def file export but it is
only returning 0 length files. Has anyone else seen this or know of a fix?

Command Line:
aradmin.exe -x delldevatrium -portnum 22000 -u <user> -p <password> -o
"E:/Backups/delldevatrium/delldevatrium.log" -e
"E:/Backups/delldevatrium/20080829.def" -F

Log Output:
Action Request System Administrator Tool.

I've tried it with both a 7.1 and 6.3 Aradmin tool.

Thanks,
Brad
