Christie,

Just remember that if you are using CMDB and any sort of discovery tool,
topology, reconciliation, it will use OOTB product categorization such
as Hardware, System, Laptop. Keep this in mind before you start
releasing your own "custom" product cats.

Subject: Product Categories & CMDB Verification

 

Hi All - we are going to be moving to ITSM 7 in the next few months but
we wanted to verify some things before we go too far & have to do a lot
of rework.

 

What we wanted to verify was the Product Catalog.  We are assuming that
the CMDB, Incident (Assignment & Resolution), Change, Knowledge
Management, ... use the same catalog (e.g., if we add something it is
available in all the modules).  Is that correct or am I way off base?
