I really don't see it as a mistake.  If you want useful answers and/or
guidance, knowing how to ask for it is the first thing you should
learn how to do.  Just trying to point you in the right direction.  If
you are satisfied with the responses you are getting to your
questions, then by all means continue asking your questions in the
manner you have in the past.  If you're not, then the link can provide
useful guidance.
