I had extreme troubles with the java plugin and commented it out. After that I
had no issues.

That was using ARS 7.1 patch 001 on Solaris with SLM 7.1 (no patch).

We did NOT have the collector module installed - I believe you do need it for
the collector module.

Subject: 7.1 armonitor.conf: Does java based plugin server make the "arplugin"
unnecessary??

Hi all:
My armonitor.conf has the following two lines:

/app/arsystem/arsys2/bin/arplugin -s remedy002 -i
/app/arsystem/arsys2

java -Xmx512m -classpath
/app/arsystem/arsys2/pluginsvr:/app/arsystem/arsys2/pluginsvr/arpluginsvr71.jar
com.bmc.arsys.pluginsvr.ARPluginServerMain -x
remedy002 -i /app/arsystem/arsys2 -m

It appears that both are designed to do the same
thing...basically function as the plugin server and
that the second one makes the first one unnecessary.

See this from "Configuring..." guide, page 295:
Java plug-in server

Description The Java plug-in server is an alternative
to the C-based plug-in server.
It supports C plug-ins and Java plug-ins using a new
Java plug-in API. The armonitor process initiates the
Java plug-in server.

Synopsis java -Xmx512m -classpath <class_path>
com.bmc.arsys.pluginsvr.ARPluginServerMain -x
<host_name> -i <install_dir> -m

I am wondering if having both of these has anything to
do with the other issue I reported today.

Thanks for reading...what do you say?

Can somebody with ITSM 7 and SLM tell me that they
only have the second line, and not the first line? I
am adding SLM here, because few months ago, somebody
stated that the second one is required by SLM.
Perhaps. But they didn't say anything about the first
one at that time.
