We are trying to set up an InfoPath 2007 data connection to Remedy and
the data connection gives us the error "InfoPath cannot use the selected
Web service method for receiving data because the method does not
provide valid XML data."

Environment

Web - ARS 7.1 p005, Tomcat 6_0_11, Windows 2003 SP1

App - ARS 7.1 p005, Windows 2003 SP1

DB - SQL 2005 SP2, Windows 2003 SP1

Has anyone successfully managed to get InfoPath 2007 to read/submit data
to Remedy using Web Services? The web service that I created was off of
a basic form (no extra fields) with public permissions. Browsing to the
web service shows the XML of the web service as it is supposed to,
however, we cannot get InfoPath to connect to the web service.

I've found references to flaws in MSXML 5.0, which InfoPath 2007
utilizes, in handling complexType objects at the top level, but I
couldn't find anything detailed enough for someone who is relatively new
at XML to update the Remedy web service. The forums indicate that these
problems are corrected in MSXML 6.0, however, InfoPath will not utilize
that library until SP2 ships later this year.

Thanks,

Roy
