Bhupesh Gupta,

I would advocate a slightly different hierarchy of logic be applied to
this type of question.

The believe that the method you select should also be the method that
you plan on moving these records into production with.

The process of moving code (and data) from Dev to Test should always
mirror what you are going to do to get data into production. If it
does not then you may come up with some slick/fast/cool way that you
just can not use to actually make the changes in production.

However, I do realize that there are some special cases where the data
in dev is really test data (AKA: Used only for testing and will never
be moved to production.) and saving any time you can in preparing the
Test environment is a useful optimization to lower the cost to do the
testing before the move to production.

I think the purest way to do any testing (UAT especially) is to start
by doing a DB level restore of production into the Test environment.
Tweak the data in whatever way(s) you need to so that the Test
instance is clearly the test instance and it will "do the right
things" during testing. (All of that should be a standard operating
procedure.) Then apply changes from Dev in the same mannor that you
plan on doing it to prod. So that you can test your code deployment
processes. Then you should be left with an environment suitable for
UAT. It should have simulated exactly what production would look like
after the patch/change is implemented.

But maybe that is just how I look at things.

So if you think you would ever attempt to load data into a production
system (presumable in use at the time) from the database level....
then go that route. (And I wish you luck with the details of that.)

By my vote is for anything that is AR System API based (like the
arimport tool, or rrrchive) over any DB level approach.

HTH.
