The explanation for error 311 goes like this:

"The field ID references a field that is not defined for the current
form.
You attempted an operation against the wrong form or server, or the
structure of the form was
changed to eliminate the field ID from the form. Change to the correct
form or server, or remove
the Field Name from the Field Sort Order list to complete the
operation."

It means that somewhere in the workflow this field is getting refered.
To find out the problematic workflow you can start your workflow log and
log both filter and active link messages to the same file. See if you
can get any reference to this field in the log.
