Hi irina, this is probably caused.by the data collation in your database or the unicode handling in your php script.
It is not recommended to use direct database integrations. For the kind of integration you're creating, you could use the Atrium Integration Engine or AIE. That way, the interface will be a lot more robust and easier to maintain.
