Must be something to do with the display of your local PC? Have you tried it on another PC with slightly different Display settings?
I do not recall mine looking any different and I used Firefox all the time.. I did have issues with label names of columns being supressed in a table field but other than that most of everything else did display quite well on Firefox on a similar configuration as your current configuration..
