CMDB has to be installed on the same system as the server as there are shared
libraries that are loaded into the server at startup. Once this is done you
could, in theory, run the cmdb and recon engine services on different machines
but remember that they are clients so the load ends up back in the same place
if you only have one server. If they are interested in spreading the load
around they need a server group - 2 or more AR servers connecting to the same
database and the supporting services split between them as appropriate for
their environment/usage.

Subject: ARS/CMDB Install on 2 servers?

**
Someone asked me this and I cannot find a definitive answer.

ARS 7.5: Can CMDB be installed separately on a different server than ARS?
They are not talking server groups, they want to spread the application
services over two machines, 1 for CMDB, 1 for ARS. Both would use same DB.

Without going into why they want to do this, does anyone know if this is a
possibility? Never crossed this bridge before.

Thanks,
Mark
