Hi, Not to split hairs but only in that specifi case.
On *NIX systems, there is rpcbind (Also known as portmapper) It provides a mapping from a service name to the port number it's running on So in the case of ARS. Your AR Client connects to UDP 111 and asks what TCP port AR Server (or forkd) is running on, it then replies to the client and from then on it will communicate on that port. If you specify that port then you bypass the need to ask the portmapper. On windows, BMC have thier own deamon. So in your case, your firewall team wont open a range (Or shouldnt anyway due to security reasons) they should ask for a specific port number.
