We did this way back in early 2009 for Remedy 7.1.

We had no issues.
But we had to rename the servers and reassign IP addresses.
Licensing also due to MAC address change.
Performance was an issue only cuz the Test environment was assigned
less resources.
I did have to reinstall the email engine to get it working properly in
dev.
