Yup done it a few times too.. works like a charm as long as the import tool finds the files in the path that is suggested in the csv file..

The import file does need the full path (I even had the drive in mine) and file name. Depending on what form you're importing them into, you'll probably need the reference as to what ticket they relate to. The setup of the (in my case .csv file) took a bit of formulas to manipulate the data then copy and paste values into the sheet I actually used for the import. I tested with one or two first to make sure I had everything set right - then did over 15,000 attachments - loaded in about 45 minutes. My suggestion is to make sure you test with one or two attachments get the desired result - then it becomes a walk in the park!
