Hi James, We are also in the same version what you are on. 4 months back, I had carried out the same exercise of moving the Midtier server from win2k to win2k3 Not much major issue i had faced because of the installation.
Install the stuff which included JRE, JDK and Midtier on IIS 6 with Server let engine. Once the installation is done first thing to check if the config page load properly or not. Then comes the configuring the Homepage on the IIS side. For me i need to point the user's to INIT form as we use LDAP authentication. Only challenge which I had faced was with Crystal report. Here I had to keep the Server name same as we use a URL on the intranet. So instead of changing the setting on the DNS which taken more time to replicate, I preferred to use the same hostname and the IP. I have been given an ultimatum by upper management that we need to upgrade this server to Windows 2003 or 2008. I have patch 24 for the mid-tier and that is the only installable that I have. Other than making sure I have the right JDK and IIS installed, what other gotcha's should I be concerned about? The server will have a different name, but when we switch over from the old to the new, we will alias the old name to the new server in DNS. Any feedback would be appreciated.
