** The other option would be to give these users "Asset User" permissions, then control their update access to the CI via the "Support By" relationships in the people tab (to their support group).

Now, this would give these users the ability to view all CMDB Configuration items for their Company, but only be allowed to update CIs to which they have a "Supported By" relationship to the Support groups in which they are members.

Not sure if this is what you want to do or if you want to take the "Company" approach via multi-tenancy to completely segregate the CIs.
