Listers,

Some customer prospect asked us about "Processor Families" compatibles with ARS
7.6.04 and Benchmark Test made in order to specify Processor Requirements
specified in "Reference Architecture for BMC Service Support Solutions using
BSM 7.6 Components" document.

We recommended Small Environment (2 MT, 2 ARS), for each ARS Server we
specified Processor Requirements:

- 64 bits (Customer uses Solaris)

- > 4 processor cores, 2.8 GHz

Prospect's hardware partner asked us "How Processor Frecuency
Recommendation(2.8 GHz) was obtained" and if there is some Benchmark Test made
in order to specify HW requirements.

I read some White Paper about Performance Benchmarking made under Dell
PowerEdge servers (Xeon´s Intel) but it was published in 2008 for an older ARS
version.

I totally understand that ARS is compatible with almost all processor families
(except some issues in HP-UX with Intel Itanium), but I also understand it's a
valid question. I´m aware that BMC is not "married" with any HW vendor. So HW
recommendations should be driven in a generic way.

Any experience, comments, documents you can share in order to clarify this
question?

Best regards,

Alejandro
