I would never use the sync feature as it moves loads of hidden fields. Just
use the add fields to view function.

I added my fields to the CMDB Core forms via the class manager. I ran the
Sync via the Application Console and the fields are still not moving over
with the correct field ID. Does it matter if I give them my own ID when I
put them on the AST form? They have the correct ID on the CMDB form.

If your adding custom fields to the CMDB core forms via the class manager,
are you manually adding these same fields to the AST forms via the developer
studio? If so, your doing it wrong. Your suppose to use the Sync feature
which moves the fields from the CMDB classes to the AST classes for you.

When adding fields manually to a form, you can change the default value to
pretty much any value you want. Once you save though, you can't change the
ID.
