Good move.. Never host the DB Server on the same box as the Application 
Server...

Apart from maintaining the same database name, database user name and password, 
all you need to do is point to the remote DB once you set it up on a remote 
machine by editing the ar.cfg file..

Obviously in order to do this you would need to restart the AR System server so 
it has to be done when the least users are connected to it, after informing 
them of a expected short outage. The outage should last no more than an hour or 
so, depending on the size of the DB that you would need to backup and restore 
to a remote instance..

If the DB is using windows authentication, make sure you replicate that 
correctly on the remote instance, else authentication to the DB will fail..
