Hi,
Not everyone has access to the database directly.
As soon as you change anything directly in the database, you make your
system "unsupported" by BMC. If you know what you are doing, this is no
real problem.
Some data types are not readily accessed directly via database tools.
Going through the API gives you a lot of advantages.
If for example you want to add a new record directly in the database, you
have to update the Tx, Hx and Bx tables as well as arschema->nextid. You
will also need to make sure no one else snatched your nextid before you
commit your change.
