I always use the TWO_TASK as I find treating oracle as if it was installed on another machine (remote) seems to eliminate some issues. Yes it also allows the db to be a different version from the client.

Client is 9 db is 10 so Remedy is pointing to 9 not 10/ or 10 not 11..
