Talking about bugs with FTS, did any of you'll have bugs with having the "(" character in the search (open parenthesis) with no close parenthesis in that search string throw out an FTS error "ARERR [875] FTSService could not complete the requested operation : FTSPlugin::multiGetOperation - com.bmc.arsys.fts.impl.lucene.query.FTSQueryParser: *A*N*D* ARERR [8753] Error in plugin : ARSYS.ARF.FTS errors"..

You would think a search should not really care what's in the search string so why is it expecting a close parenthesis when there is an open one in the search string? Its almost like its trying to evaluate the string as if it contains functions and parse it..

I've raised a ticket last weekend with Remedy Support and am expecting it to be classified as a bug - (or as designed)..

Misi,
I remember this issue specifically with the Full text search. Do you
know if it is related to that or specifically the DB?

Hi,

In the "Known issues in the AR System server 7.6.04 Service Pack 3" I
found this thing:

SW00391781
In BMC Remedy AR System, the search operation using the leading wildcard
character (%) is not as efficient as a complete string search or a
trailing wildcard search.
For example, search for the %block string is less efficient than a search
for either the block or block% strings.
To fix the issue, contact BMC Software Customer Support.

I thought that this was all due to database issues when doing LIKE
searches. Indexes was never used when doing trailing searches. How can
this be "fixed"?
