That made me laugh... Been there too. Got stuck in an airport for 24 hours 
trying to straighten the mess it created.

But getting work in the US as a non us citizen and as a non permanent 
resident is harder now then it used to be. But still possible.

That reminds me of the time many years ago when I arrived in the US and 
replied ‘Yes’ to the question of whether I was there to work.
 
Had I said ‘No’, I was on business I’d have got out of the airport a lot 
quicker!!

Jose, there are lots of jobs open at non-government places that would 
require neither citizenship nor a security clearance, and you can 
sometimes get a contract firm to sponsor an H1-B.  Might look at it from 
that angle.

I certainly wouldn't concentrate solely on US positions. There should
be positions open in other countries.
