Tauf,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was travelling yesterday. So, I've been
banging my head trying to remember where I saw this, and I haven't been able
to dig it up. The issue stems from the way that Remedy takes the hostname
and determines the domain and plugs the two together. So, in the past, I've
seen places where you'll see in the logs something like, "Failure to connect
to hostname.domain.name.domain.name". What my group has started doing is
ensuring that the following values are set properly, and then using the
hostname (shortname) in the Plugin-Server-Alias value.

Server-Name: <short server name>

Server-Connect-Name: <FQDN of Server>

Both of the following KBs reference the issue/solution as well. KA316519,
KA338903

Hope that helps!

Matt

** Matt,
You stated that the server name on the plugin configurations should be short
name and not FQDN. What's the reason for recommending that?
I am asking purely for knowledge. Thanks :)

Jaya,

I would enable plugin logging through the ar.conf file. it sounds as if the
plugin is having issues connecting/communicating. Review all of your plugin
server alias lines in the ar.conf as well, to ensure that the server name is
correct (short name not FQDN) for all plugins. Additionally, double-check
the armonitor.conf to see that the path to java is correct in all the lines.
After that, restart the system and dig into the plugin log files to see what
is failing.

Good luck,

Matt

Hi List

We are upgrading our ARS 7.1 to ARS 7.6.04 SP2 , the installer runs fine but
we have noticed that most time the server information becomes blank. The
services come up and the host id is shown on the license console. But server
information remains empty, we have tried restarting ar server as well as ar
plugin services.

But still the server information remains blank, anyone experience the same
issue.

ARS 7.1 upgrade to ARS 7.6.04 SP2

DB - Oracle 10.2

OS - Solaris 9

Thanks

Jaya
