Again not offering a solution here but you might want to look into the
Developer community resources to see if there is a plugin developed and
available to achieve what you want to.. There is a lot of interesting stuff
there in terms of Dev Studio plugins that may save you time on something like
this.. I am not saying there may be one for this particular requirement, but
you might be able to resolve other issues you may be having by exploring what's
available there in those resources from time to time..

Cheers

Joe

Ok so I tried creating an overlay of the SRM application and it did what I
thought it would. It created the overlay of just the application itself. It
did not touch the forms or any of the workflow associated with it. So at this
point I am back to touching each piece of workflow individually. I may open a
ticket with BMC on Monday about it to see what they say I should be doing since
it is their recommendation that I use the OOB workflow instead of making copies
like we did in the pre 7.6.04 SRM system.

Hey Tauf,

I am creating AIF’s for services that have criteria that cannot be met by a
standard SRD. BMC now recommends that instead of copying the OOB AL’s,
Filters, and Guides (which is what BMC recommended be done before overlays were
introduced), you should attach your AIF’s to the OOB workflow. The issue is
that in order to use ‘Best Practice Customization Mode’ one must first create
overlays of all OOB workflow that is to be modified, or change them to Custom
forms (which defeats the purpose of overlays and will be a major headache come
upgrade/patch time). So at this point I am faced with the daunting task of
clicking and modifying each piece of workflow at least once if not twice. And
considering there are 179 Active Links, 20 Filters, 20 Active Link Guides, and
2 Filter Guides associated with the form
SRS:AdvancedInterface_WithBackendMapping I am looking at an extremely long
process to create my first AIF. Once I have the first AIF done then any future
ones should be quite easy as I can edit multiple active links and filters all
at once.

Hope this makes sense. I am going to attempt to create an overlay of the SRM
application and will keep everyone updated as to how it goes.

Thanks,

Josh

Josh,

Not providing a solution here but looking for the reasoning behind this out of
curiosity.

I think 8.0 gives you the ability to overlay an entire application which could
do what you are saying.

Does anyone know of a way to create overlays of all of the OOB AIF workflow
at once? I am not looking forward to right clicking on 179 AL’s and selecting
‘Create Overlay’. Normally I would just make copies and use these as I did in
pre 7.6.04, however BMC is recommending that I not do this. This in a brand
new 8.0 environment (All modules) and is a dev box so I am open to any sort of
suggestion even if there is the chance it could hose the system as I do have
several backups I can restore to.

  Thanks,

  Josh
