I think you got the first line wrong or it was a bungled typo by someone. That
should be more like this, and it starts up the main ar server process
(arserverd):

#opt/bmc/ARSystem/bin/arserversd -s <servername> -I /opt/bmc/ARSystem

The second line is kind of the same problem - it looks like it is supposed to
be for the SLM business rules engine. Assuming you are using this, the line
should look like this and you probably have one in there that isn't commented
out:

#opt/bmc/ServiceLevelManagement/bin/slmbrsvc.sh

The third line is for the SLM collector module. If you are not using this
(which most people do not as far as I know, but it can be very useful) it can
safely be commented out to prevent overhead.

To answer your other questions - I suspect if you uncommented the first two
lines you'd get errors but it would require a server restart to get them going.
The third one is probably okay but unnecessary unless you are using the
collector for SLM.

And when you update any server in the server group you must MANUALLY change the
others. Config changes do NOT cascade in the server group (exceptions apply,
but it's not worth assuming any one particular thing will work - always confirm
it). This includes both edits to armonitor.conf and ar.conf as well as doing
stuff through the WUT/Web Server Info page.

It can be very vexing to have multiple admins on servers making changes so I
suggest you make sure you are all coordinating when you do make config changes,
hopefully with some kind of CM process :)

Subject: armonitor config questions

**
Hi All,

I am running ARS 7.6.04 with ITSM 7.6.04 in a server group and still have a lot
to learn about all three. BMC did the install. And looking at the
armonitor.conf file I see there are several lines commented out. Not sure why
so I have a couple of questions.

If these were not commented out what would be running?
If I removed the pound would this process just start running or would I need to
restart the AR Server?
If I update the config file on the primary AR Server, is the other server in
the group automatically updated or do I need to change both?

#opt/bmc/ARSystem/bin/arservsd -s <servername> -I /opt/bmc/ARSystem
#opt/bmc/ServiceLevelManagement/bin/slmbr.sh
#opt/bmc/ServiceLevelManagement/bin/slmcollsvc.sh

Thanks
Mark
