Chris, I'm not sure I completely understand your concern. For me flights from the East Coast to San Jose or San Francisco are a small fraction of the cost to attend the conference. In turn there are many folks coming in from out of country and flying into a major airport on the East or West coast reduces costs for them and is more convenient.
I believe Houston was looked at as a possibility. Yet there were limitations that caused it to be dropped from consideration.
