Oscar, The best setting for Oracle-Cursor-Sharing is FORCE. This is true for ANY AR System installation.
Now, there is one exception to this. If you want to run Oracle in case-INsensitive mode - which is fully supported from the 8.1 and forward versions - you must set Oracle-Cursor-Sharing to EXACT. While this is not the highest performing option, it is required for case-insensitivity as implemented by Oracle to work properly. You have to make a tradeoff between the case-insensitive functionality and a level of raw database performance. So, you want o set to FORCE for your situation. If you move forward in the future and want to change the system to work in a case-insensitive fashion, you could then change this setting (and the other settings to activate case-insensitivity - all documented) at that time. I've installed CMDB 7.6. The documentation states Oracle-Cursor-Sharing needst to be set as SIMILAR for installation. SLM 7.6 installation states Oracle-Cursor-Shareing needs to be set to FORCE. Which setting should be used in the scenairo where CMDB 7.6 and SLM 7.6 are installed. This is an AIX installation Thanks, Oscar Herrera IT Prophets _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org "Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years"
