You can use any DB backup mechanism you have access to. The AR System does all work in a transactionally consistent way. The DB is ALWAYS in a stable state between transactions (OK, if you are in the middle of restructuring, we do have to commit the metadata changes at a separate time of the actual DB restructure operations so you do want to avoid doing a backup while you are creating or modifying form definitions – but that is an obvious restriction).
As long as your on-line backup includes some form of transaction log capture for things "in flight", you should be good to go. Now, the other comments about making sure the restore process works and is timely and the like are definitely key points you need to have all figured out for this to really work. This isn't my question (I'm also the DBA, I know that I can and I know how to do this [cid:~WRD000.jpg] ). The matter is if I can consider the ARServer "application consistent" because it's running. ----Messaggio originale---- Da: [email protected] Data: 11-apr-2013 14.47 A: <[email protected]> Ogg: Re: Taking a database backup with ARServer running. ** BTW its DB activity and not AR. The goal is to take a database backup with application consistency having the ARServer up&running, minimizing the downtime. Is there any way?
