Would it be possible for you to point the mid-tier servers directly to the app
servers to test, bypassing the load balancer in-between the mid-tier and the
app server? We've had similar issues in the past, and BMC suggested trying
that. Of you stop getting the errors you will know it's that load balancer.

Subject: Midtier Application connectivity issues

hi Listers,

I once again need help on one very special issue. And its going
be a long email apologies for that in advance.

Our architecture

1) About 50 concurrent users
2) Software Mid Tier Load balancer
3) 2 Midtier servers
4) 4 Application servers
5) 1 Database with remote replication

Versions

ARS + ITSM + SRM = All 8.1 version and all windows VM.
DB = SQL
Attrium SSO implemented with AD.

Scenario:
We have about 50 concurrent users connecting using a software load
balancer which routes requests to one of the two MT servers which in turn
routs the requests back to the same load balancer which routes back to
Application servers.

We have App2 and App4 as user facing active servers and App1 and App3 with
admin roles.

Problems and questions:

           1) Is it a good practice to have the MT link to app server rout via
the same software load balancer as the MT load balancer

           2) We get a lot of ARERR 90 errors to the end users and as well as
in both the MT logs. Does it 100% mean we have network issue?

           3) When we get the ARERR 90 to the end users we do not face it with
all the end users. Again does it mean 100% network issue as some times the
request is passed for the same user and other times it does not.

           4) How can I verify if the issue is 100% network and also prove it
to the customer as the networking team tends to deny (;))

           5) Also I am able to access the application server using Driver and
user tool (I know I am not supposed to use it :P) so we know that application
server is working fine. Arerror log also shows no other specific error.

Really appreciate any help on this issue. Its just about letting the customer
understand and not walk over with the network issue with all the blame game.

Thanks in Advance.
Vikrant
