Hi everyone,

We're looking at the CMDB to see if it will help our Engineering group
perform Configuration Management.
Specifically what we're trying to assess is if there are any features in
the CMDB or ITSM apps that help people align a service capability's system
requirements with the CIs that exist in the environment?

We were looking at the capability called Manage Configurations in Asset
Management but that seems to be at the CI level and not necessarily the
attribute or related attribute level so I'm not sure that will meet the
need unless I'm overlooking something.

Here is a short scenario of what we are trying to accomplish.
The engineering department creates a service or capability to manage data
from several inputs and then processes it and displays it on monitors for
certain service centers to use. The capability doesn't necessarily require
specific hardware for the software that performs this capability, but it
does have minimum requirements. We'll keep it simple and just say for
example:
1) A Server with a minimum of 4GB RAM, 2 Processors, 2 Ethernet ports
2) A database with a minimum of 12GB RAM, 2 Processors, 2 Ethernet ports, 1
- 1TB Hard Drive

Is there a feature in the CMDB/ITSM apps that allows someone to set up
this type of requirement traceability so that CIs can be verified as
compatible within their given service capability, or does anyone have any
experience in this realm with other systems that they'd be willing to talk
about?

Thanks!!
Kristie
