Pam, It's been so long since I have stood up a server group from scratch, but I seem to remember it adding the server, but not assigning a rank automatically...it's something I did manually if I remember correctly....either way, you can assign any server to any rank for any operation, just ensure you restart all servers in the group after making any changes :)
