(aside:
"perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=/some/other/path" doesn't work) and tried my script
again. Ars_GetVUI() is still returning undef :( Here's my code:

The problem is definitely a bug in 1.84 (and probably earlier versions).
Versions 1.85 or higher should work fine.
