I did set up a forum so we could let each other know our availability,

This was because some people preferred to not post this information to a
public list.
With forums, you need to be a member of the project and login to the
website to post. And if you wish to be notified, subscribe to the
discussion topic so that you are alerted.
After setting it up, it was not used as the Forums link disappeared from
the left navigational menu on http://marketing.openoffice.org/
If there is enough interest, I don't mind seeking out how to revive this
if it assists project and or team members work more easily with each other.
