I have noticed for some months now that all Genbank files obtained via the NCBI website are not loadable by Artemis r5. It complains about a character that is not a letter '1'.
After experimenting around, it appears that the mere act of inserting a BASE COUNT line before the ORIGIN line will fix it. Could the codebase be adjusted to remove the necessity of doing so please? Regards, David Huen, U. of C.
